GGL Hotel & Resort Company, the hospitality arm of Ambuja Realty, plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore in the next five years to develop and expand the hospitality business, said Harsh Neotia, chairman of Ambuja Realty.

On future plans of this hospitality division, the chairman said: “We are looking forward to build four to five boutique resorts in tourism destinations and city hotels in West Bengal.” He divulged nothing more about his plans except that the arm is looking to set up a

boutique resort in the mountains.

“Initially, we will expand in West Bengal and then look out for destinations outside the state for expansion,” Neotia told reporters at the soft

launch of Ganga Kutir, a boutique resort in Raichowk, on Friday.

The resort has 18 rooms with a spa facility and 12 more rooms are going to be added in another year, he said. “It is built at a cost of Rs 12 crore on two and a half acre,” he said. The standard rooms and suites of this resort come at a price of Rs 12,000- 20,000. “We are mainly targeting high income group people, NRIs and foreigners who will come to relax in this sylvan environment,” said Neotia. High-end board meetings are also expected to take place in this resort, he added.

About turnover of the hospitality arm, he said: “The division, which has under it the Ganga Kutir and Fort brands, did a business of Rs 18 crore last fiscal and the target is to add another 25% to this in the current fiscal.”

“All our boutique resorts will be called Kutir but the first part of the name will depend on the location, that is why this one is called Ganga Kutir as it overlooks river Ganges in Raichowk,” he added.
