The $2 billion Middle East-based Alghanim Industries, with its two Indian subsidiaries – Kirby Building Systems and Rockwool (India) Ltd – has gone live with its SAP Human Capital Management (HCM). Having a workforce of over 4,000 people in both its Indian companies, Alghanim has now unified multi-functional human capital management system that will provide data transparency and speedup processes. The company now plans to roll out SAP-HCM implementation in the rest of Alghanim industries across 40 countries by the end of 2009.

According to Ian S Waterhouse, vice-president, human resources, the SAP-ERP implementation is not merely the automation of HR accounting processes but the introduction of more efficient management procedures. The new system will provide basic human resources management and will aid businesses in managing employees more effectively, automate HR processes and facilitate accessibility on employee data in processing their HR requirements.

While Kirby has two manufacturing plants – Hyderabad and Haridwar, Rockwool has a plant in Hyderabad thus taking the total workforce to about 4,000 people.

Meanwhile, the group company, Rs 80-crore Rockwool Industries, is planning to set up another plant in Silvassa to double its capacity from 25,000 tonnes by April 2009. The company manufactures insulation materials to enhance energy savings through its technology partner is Saint Gobain. The company is bullish about the growing demand for building insulations as an emerging business due to energy conservation. Also, the other industrial unit, Kirby Building Systems, has bagged Rs 25 crore order from Apollo Tyres. These new businesses for both the units can be progressed effectively with the introduction of an integrated ERP system.
