The proceeds from the 3G spectrum auctions on Tuesday crossed the budgeted Rs 35,000-crore with the nine operators in the fray committing Rs 35,018 crore. The auctions, which are expected to continue this week, would now definitely yield close to Rs 50,000 crore to the Centre. This would be only from 3G spectrum after which auctions for broadband wireless access is slated. Tuesday?s single provisional bid for pan-India spectrum touched Rs 8,662 crore, 3.3% higher than the price on Monday. On an overall basis the amount is 147% higher than the reserve price of Rs 3,500 crore. Mumbai for the second consecutive day received the highest bid of Rs 1,329.34 crore against the reserve price of Rs 320 crore.
