
Sanju Samson is a wicketkeeper-batsman and known for his elegant strokes and explosive hitting. Born on November 11, 1994 in Kerala, Samson made his first appearance for India in a T20I against Zimbabwe, in 2015. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2021. Sanju had limited opportunities, but he showed his talent in spectacles like his first ODI century against South Africa in December 2023. Sanju has already scored more than 500 runs at 56.67 and has 861 runs in T20Is with three centuries as the first wicketkeeper in India to do so in T20Is.
He has been a consistent performer for IPL right from his debut season in 2013 with Rajasthan Royals. He was made the team’s captain in 2021 and he proved to be their highest run-getter, scoring over 4400 runs in 168 matches, including three centuries and 26 fifties. Great seasons have been 2021 with 484 runs and 2024 with 531 runs at a strike rate of 153.47. Under his captaincy, the Rajasthan Royals made it to the IPL final for the second time in 2022.
