Indian equity benchmarks closed Wednesday’s trade on a lower note, extending losses for the third session. The Nifty 50 ended the day 42 points or 0.16% lower at 25,818, while the BSE Sensex dropped 120 points or 0.14% to end at 84,560.
Similarly, the Nifty Bank settled 108 points or 0.18% lower at 59,927, in line with benchmarks. The mid-cap stocks also closed the trade in the red. The BSE Midcap finished 245 points or 0.53% lower at 45,946.26. However, the BSE Smallcap finished 431 points or 0.85% lower at 50,313.

Indices in intraday trade
The indices closed the trade on a lower note. During the session, out of 3,224 trading stocks, 1,055 advanced, while 2,084 declined, and 85 remained unchanged. Today, 47 stocks hit a fresh 52-week high. Meanwhile, 152 stocks touched a new 52-week low.
Top gainers
Shriram Finance was the top gainer in the Nifty 50 in Wednesday’s session, closing 2.07% higher. It was followed by State Bank of India, Hindalco Industries, Eicher Motors, and Coal India.
Top losers
Max Healthcare Institute’s shares were the biggest losers in today’s trade, falling 3.71%. It was followed by Apollo Hospitals, Trent, Bajaj Auto, and HDFC Life Insurance were the only losers.
