Kota became the first Indian city to be traffic signal-free. Can the model be emulated?
Kota, India’s first signal-free city, has successfully improved urban mobility by adopting a design-driven model with grade-separated infrastructure and one-way corridors. This has led to shorter travel times, less fuel consumption, and fewer accidents. Other Indian cities like Indore and Bokaro Steel City are also implementing intelligent traffic management systems to become signal-free.
