Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections are due by November or December 2023. The tenure of the MP Assembly is scheduled to end on January 6, 2024. The state is likely to be a two-faced contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.
Madhya Pradesh is a state of 230 constituencies out of which, 114 seats were secured by the Congress party in the 2018 Assembly elections BJP secured only 109 seats. However, Congress couldn’t maintain a hold on its position and the elected Chief Minister Kamal Nath had to step down in just 15 months. BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chauhan took up the position and is currently serving the state.
The other parties that have fielded candidates in the poll-bound state are the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP), among others.
