
Mohammad Shami is one of India’s fastest bowlers, famous for swinging the ball in both directions and his ability to bowl under pressure. Shami was born on 3 September 1990 in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. He made his international debut in an ODI assignment against Pakistan in January, 2013, where his accuracy came into play. Shami played a Test debut in November 2013 against the West Indies, taking 9 wickets in his match debut. Throughout his career, he has always been a part of the Indian bowling attack, as his statistics show over 200 wickets in ODIs and Tests. He has played the roles for India in both the 2015 Cricket World Cup and the 2023 Cricket World Cup as the leading wicket-taker in the last one. His T20I career may not be as extensive as that of other cricketers, but he has made a mark in death overs.
In this way, Shami made his IPL debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2013 and became perfect with the Punjab Kings from 2019 to 2021. He later added a Gujarat Titans year in 2022 before taking 20 wickets to win the title. Shami is also famous for being consistent, having 111 matches and more than 125 IPL wickets. Shami, who was the purple cap winner in 2023, was released by Gujarat Titans and then was eventually sold to SRH for Rs 10 crore for IPL 2025.
