State governments’ capital expenditure rose by 10% in the first seven months of FY26, while revenue expenditure only grew by 4%, showing fiscal responsibility. 18 states saw a decrease in borrowing and liabilities by 8%, resulting in moderate growth in revenue spending. Tax revenues also increased by 10%.
