Indore drinking water crisis: Toxic mix of E coli, Salmonella and Vibrio cholerae detected
Contaminated drinking water in Indore’s Bhagirathpur area caused 10 deaths and over 200 hospitalizations due to serious infections and multi-organ failure. Delay in identifying the source and testing samples worsened the situation. The water had a hazardous combination of bacteria, protozoa, fungi, and viruses, possibly due to sewage leaks and old pipelines.
