This week, we see the release of yet another sports based bio-pic Mary Kom. Releasing after last week’s slow performer Raja Natwarlal, this Friday’s release featuring Priyanka Chopra is highly anticipated. In fact, the film has received good reviews by critics across the board and also by people who saw it at special screenings.
Reports suggest that Mary Kom has opened on a good note, accumulating a 60% occupancy rate on the Opening Day. However, being a solo Bollywood release with relatively no competition from other Hollywood releases, coupled with the fact that the audience has been eagerly awaiting the film’s release and that the movie is based on one of India’s leading sports personalities, Mary Kom seems all set to dominate the box office this weekend.
