Ma Foi Management Consultants Employment Survey, a study undertaken on job trends and opportunities in the country’s organised sector, has predicted a whopping one million jobs across various sectors in the country within one year.
The survey predicts that after the education sector, the hospitality industry will be the most sought after for employment. “Over six lakh professionals will be employed in the hospitality sector and many global players have evinced interest in the country’s hospitality industry. An estimated $11.41 billion investment is expected in the sector in the next two years,? said K. Pandia Rajan, managing director, Ma Foi Management Consultants.
Rajan, however, wasn?t optimistic on the mining sector. ?With PSUs being major players in the sector, employment may be on a downturn owing to lack of opportunities,? he said, adding that current indications show that the impact on expected employment over the next year will be mixed.
?Some sectors like mining, minerals, food products, furniture and textiles are expected to log negative growth in employment while industries like health, hospitality, IT and ITes may generate jobs,? said Rajan.
He added that the publishing and printing industry may witness a reduction in employment. ?Magazine and vernacular newspaper circulations are not rising. This indicates a downtrend in jobs,? he said.
