Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) has rejected the demands of third party administrators (TPAs), who provide claim servicing for cashless medical policies, to market these products to customers.
?The TPAs were meant to provide claim servicing to insurers and we would like them stick to that,? said CS Rao, chairman, IRDA. The focus of the insurance regulator, will be on creating awareness about the health insurance policy.
However, there was no plan as of now to have a separate health insurance council for the sector which was either being looked after by general insurance companies or standalone health insurance companies. On a possible pool for senior citizens Rao said, ?It requires the government?s involvement.?
