A Delhi-bound Air India flight experienced a midair emergency on Sunday evening when one of its engines unexpectedly shut down, prompting an immediate return to Bengaluru, according to airport sources.
The flight, numbered AI 2820, departed from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport around 7 p.m. but encountered technical difficulties shortly thereafter. As a precaution, the aircraft circled the city for approximately an hour before making an emergency landing back at the airport, the sources revealed.
“It happened two days ago. While we do not have detailed technical information, the flight was forced to make an emergency landing,” a source told PTI.
Despite the incident, all passengers on board were reported to be safe, and no untoward events occurred during the landing. Efforts to determine the cause of the engine failure are reportedly underway.
