In what is being deemed as a racist attack, an Indian student named Charanpreet Singh was viciously beaten in central Adelaide, in Australia, as per local reports. The Punjabi man is 23 years old, and his case unfortunately made headlines around the same time Irish outlets spoke out about an Indian Amazon employee nearly being “left for dead” in the aftermath of a racial assault in Dublin.
On Saturday evening, Singh was with his wife near Kintore Avenue when a group of five men reportedly jumped him after the couple parked their car to see the city’s light installations. Reports have so far quoted police and eyewitnesses, suggesting that another card came up beside the couple and ambushed them out of nowhere.
“The group dragged the man from his car and assaulted him before driving off in a Toyota sedan,” a police spokesperson told SBS Punjabi. The attackers were allegedly wielding metal knuckles or other sharp objects as they ambushed Singh and his wife, demanding him to move his car.
