The White House was quick to defend the Republican US president’s Easter diatribe on social media. Donald Trump’s Easter wishes were laden with vitriol for former President Joe Biden and the other side of the political board. “Happy Easter to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting and scheming so hard to bring Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, the Mentally Insane, and well known MS-13 Gang Members and Wife Beaters, back into our Country,” he said in a Truth Social post on Sunday.
Wishing a happy Easter to the “WEAK and INEFFECTIVE Judges and Law Enforcement Officials who are allowing this sinister attack on our Nation to continue,” he brought back his ill-famed nickname for the ex-prez, “Sleepy Joe Biden.” Calling him “by far, our WORST and most Incompetent President, a man who had absolutely no idea what he was doing,” Trump made his Easter message all about Joe Biden.
Amid all the heavy accusations being referenced in the social media post, he couldn’t stop himself from re-introducing the immigration debate. He took a swing at Biden for intentionally letting “Millions of CRIMINALS to enter our Country, totally unvetted and unchecked, through an Open Borders Policy that will go down in history as the single most calamitous act ever perpetrated upon America.”
The vengeance-dripping and sardonic message also turned back time to the infamous 2020 presidential elections, as he wrote, “… to all of the people who CHEATED in the 2020 Presidential Election in order to get this highly destructive Moron Elected, I wish you, with great love, sincerity, and affection, a very Happy Easter!!!”
White House shares Trump’s controversial Easter message
The White House, too, shared the lengthy message’s screenshot via its official social media account, saying, “An Easter Greeting from Donald J. Trump, 45th and 47th President of the United States: “Happy Easter to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are…””‘
Many upset Instagram users took charge of the comments under the post, expressing their disappointment with how Trump made the happy holiday all about dragging the Democrats. With Easter signifying the resurrection of Jesus Christ, users pointed out the irony of Trump’s latest polarising hate train.
Severe backlash against Trump’s ‘Easter wishes’
“Hey, Donald! Today is actually about Grace, redemption, forgiveness, and being made new in Christ. I fear you’ve missed the mark by approx. 100%,” someone commented. Another user slammed the president, “Even a day about Jesus is still ultimately about himself.”
Yet another IG user commented, “Please don’t bring Easter into this.” A fourth person wrote, “Bro can’t make a simple Easter post without making it about Joe Biden.” Some even torched the “embarrassing” post while pointing out how the official White House account was promoting his “agenda.” “It’s crazy that this isn’t a meme account,” and more such remarks consumed the comments section.
White House defended Trump, but some Republicans couldn’t
The White House account noticeably responded to one such comment that read “Girl aren’t you tired,” with a one-word reply: “No.”
Some Republicans also joined the others in criticising Trump’s social media post that was supposedly meant to wish everyone a happy Easter. ‘Republicans Against Trump,’ a popular group of GOP supporters who don’t want to be associated with the MAGA leader, wrote on X, “Donald Trump dedicated his Easter message to attacking the ‘Radical Left Lunatics,’ ‘the worst and most incompetent President,’ ‘Sleepy Joe Biden,’ and once again falsely claimed he won the 2020 election. Ah yes, the true spirit of Easter: rage-posting about your political enemies.”
Former Republican Illinois representative Adam Kinzinger also posted on Sunday, “Dear Christians who think Trump is the savior, here is his inspiring Easter message or forgiveness and resurrection.” His follow-up post read, “How many times Trump mentions Jesus or resurrection: 0 How many times he says Lord: 1, (drug LORDs)”
