60-year-old Wenne Alton Davis, who played a policer officer in the Amazon comedy series The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, was hit by a car in Midtown Manhattan late Monday (US time). The New York Times has since cited the police, saying that they were pronounced dead at the hospital. Their agent, Clear Talent Group’s Jamie Harris, has also confirmed that she was killed after being hit by an SUV.
According to her Instagram profile, Davis went by the pronouns They/Them.

US reports noted the police determining that a westbound Cadillac XT6 SUV on 53rd Street in Midtown Manhattan turned left onto Broadway. The moved resulted in a pedestrian being hit just before 9 pm on December 10, 2025. The person driving the car is believed to have been a 61-year-old.
As per US outlet Hello, Davis was immediately taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with severe trauma to the head and body. Edward Reynoso, a close friend and neighbour, told the New York Daily News that the actor was on her way to meet a friend for dinner. The Marvelous Mrs Maisel star had plans for a movie outing when they were struck by the car.
“[They] always text me when [they are] about to leave or come home, and I didn’t receive any text or anything, and I found it weird,” Reynoso told the outlet. “I was worried. I was texting [them] and [they] didn’t respond. I’m numb to tell you the truth. I can’t believe it.”
As per Reynoso’s account, Davis moved into the same building as him five years ago with their cat. Adding that just hours before the accident, Wenne Alton Davis and he spent time in his apartment, “We used to go out for dinner. We’re all single. [They were] very driven, compassionate, giving. I will miss [their] smile, laugh and joie de vivre,” he told NY Daily News.
During their quality time together, Davis told Reynoso, “I love you. I appreciate you,: which he told the news outlet felt like they were “saying goodbye.”
Who was Wenne Alton Davis?
The 60-year-old star was possibly best known for portraying a police officer in an episode of the hit comedy, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, in 2023. Prior to that, they also had bit roles in the 2019 drama series Blindspot, New Amsterdam and 2014’s The Normal Heart.

“[Wenne] had a huge love for New York, for acting, for (their) colleagues at J.F.K. and, most of all, (their) family and (their) circle of friends (which was also huge),” their agent said in a statement.
Born as Wendy Davis on October 18, 1965, in North Carolina’s Durham, their agent revealed further that they went ahead with Wenne Alton Davis as their acting alias. They are said to have made a switch to New York in their late 20s, starting off in the stand-up comedy arena before embracing acting.
Having lived in Forest Hills, Queens, Davis was also employed in a security role at John F Kennedy International Airport, which helped them make ends meet while working as an actor.
