As per the Zion Police Department’s press release viewed by People, “numerous members of the public reached out to Zion Investigators to inform them of a TikTok video that allegedly showed Ms. McCarty-Wroten livestreaming herself driving at the time of the crash.”

Authorities have since reportedly verified the authenticity of the video. With the TikToker surrendering her phone to the officials through her lawyer, forensic analysis eventually confirmed that the video was record at the time of the crash, as per the US report.

As per the release, the Lake County State Attorney’s Office issued a warrant involving charges of reckless homicide and aggravated use of an electronic communication device on Tuesday (US time). During her initial interactions with investigators, she reportedly declined her phone being searched. She reportedly also told authorities that she believed there was a green light when she was passing the intersection, claiming that she never saw Lucas crossing the road.

The report suggests that she hosted another livestream days after the alleged Chicago hit, requesting donations on the Cash App platform. Per her purported admission during the stream, the funds were meant to help her during “mental leave” from the online content arena.
