Alex Soros, son of Democratic megadonor George Soros, married longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin in a star-studded ceremony over the weekend in the Hamptons. The New York Times dubbed the event the “wedding of liberal royalty,” and the guest list reflected just that.

Attendees included political heavyweights such as Hillary Clinton—who has long considered Abedin a close confidante—as well as former President Bill Clinton, former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The celebration also drew high-profile cultural figures, including Vogue editor Anna Wintour, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.

“I’m looking forward to being a witness to their marriage; to the celebration that we all are going to be part of; to seeing so many longtime friends gathered in one place,” Clinton told Vogue in an article published Saturday. “And I think we all could use some fun, so I’m looking forward to all of it.”

Who is Huma Abedin?

Huma Abedin, 48, has been a fixture in Democratic politics for over two decades. Often described as Hillary Clinton’s “second daughter,” she began her career as a White House intern in 1996 while studying at George Washington University. Over the years, she rose through the ranks to become one of Clinton’s most trusted aides, serving as vice chair of her 2016 presidential campaign.

Abedin was previously married to former Congressman Anthony Weiner. Their relationship ended in 2017 after Weiner was convicted for sending explicit messages to a minor and sentenced to 21 months in prison. The couple shares a son, Jordan.

Alex Soros, 39, is the chairman of the Open Society Foundations, which was founded by his father. Raised in Katonah, New York, Soros earned his undergraduate degree from NYU and a PhD in history from UC Berkeley. In June 2023, he officially succeeded his father as head of OSF and Soros Fund Management.
