Merely days ago, numerous reports sounded off the alarm on Barron Trump‘s absence from the flagship New York University campus in Greenwich Village. The 19-year-old, who starts his sophomore year this term, appears to have made a significant move, bringing him closer to his parents, US President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump.

Several sources, as cited in an Irish Star report, had previously disclosed that no one had seen Trump’s youngest son in college despite the new term beginning this month. Having enrolled as a freshman in September 2024, Barron first showed up to the elite school with a security detail consisting of Secret Service agents.

“Everyone knows the President’s son is supposed to be here, but it’s like he’s a ghost,” an insider spilled to Rob Shuter at the time. Consequently, ‘MIA’ status at the school further gave way to speculations that he may be joining the university late. Some even wondered if he had cut ties with the college altogether. In light of the chatter, new word on the teen member of the Trump family has finally shed some light on his whereabouts.

Where is Barron Trump?

Barron has moved into the White House, according to the New York Post. The report published on September 9 (US time) indicated that the president’s youngest son is currently living at the official residence while attending his classes. Given the recent development, the young Trump has reportedly switched to NYU’s Washington DC campus, which will allow him to stay closer to home.

As per its official website, the DC Academic Centre allows for up to 120 students to study each semester, making room for “concentrated study and research” in politics, journalism, history, public policy, environmental studies and economics.

During his freshman year, Barron opted to live in Trump Tower, Manhattan, while also flying to Palm Beach in Florida to spend time with his father at Mar-a-Lago.

The Post’s report aligns with what sources shared with People in a September 5 exclusive. “From what I was told, he’s doing a semester at another NYU campus” a security officer from NYU’s main campus told the outlet.

Barron is also believed to have shuffled between properties linked to his family and meetings with potential business partners. “Barron has been actively working on his own financial interests and has spent time with others who he is involved with in that area,” an insider claimed, noting the teen’s summer vacation was marked by parties or time at the beach. They further asserted that the 19-year-old shared a “great deal of time” with his family.

Barron Trump’s reported White House move after Melania embraces AI title

While official confirmations on Barron’s decision have yet to follow, reports of the same come after last week’s White House Task Force on AI Education. During the session, Education Secretary Linda McMahon wondered if her son was helping her, “and maybe charging (her) a little bit with that.” The first lady nodded in response.

The US president had also previously shone the light on his son’s “unbelievable aptitude in technology.”

Back in 2024, Melania spilled to Fox News that it was Barron’s decision to study in NYC. “…he wants to be in New York and study in New York and live in his home, and I respect that,” she said.

Furthermore, a previous People report relied on yet another insider’s word for insight on the first lady’s “constant” worry for her only son. The source pushed that Melania wanted to keep an eye on him “to be sure nobody messes with him or bullies him… She always knows where he is and what he’s doing.”
