Speaking with OAN News in an exclusive interview, US President Donald Trump on Thursday said that he is considering providing American taxpayers with $1,000 to $2,000 stimulus checks.

When asked how the extra money from tariffs, expected to bring in trillions of dollars each year, would be used, Trump said that he plans to use it to reduce the national debt and that he may even give Americans “distributions.”

“With the kind of growth, we have now, the debt is very low relatively speaking,” Trump said. “You grow yourself out of that debt. The numbers we have now are bigger than they ever were. We also might make a distribution to the people.”

“We’re thinking almost $1,000 to $2,000,” he said.

Trump claims record economic growth for Americans

Trump has delivered a lot of promises that he made during his campaign days. When asked how Americans would see the results of these promises in 2026, he pointed to the “Big, Beautiful Bill” as the main reason.

The law guarantees ongoing tax cuts and reduces regulations for Americans. It adds new deductions on federal taxes for tips, overtime pay, and Social Security for seniors, while also keeping and expanding the tax cuts from his first term. Trump said these steps together will bring record economic growth for Americans.

‘We can take care of people’: Trump says the numbers America is making, ‘nobody thought it was possible’

The president said that in just his first eight months back in office, he has already secured trillions of dollars in investment pledges for the United States. He pointed out that during former president Joe Biden’s four years, his administration never came close to that number.

Trump also said that this surge in investments is mainly because of the tariffs he put in place when he returned to office. He noted that the trade deficit has been cut in half, something that “nobody thought would be possible to do so quickly, except me.”

“We are becoming a country that is so rich, so powerful, it gives us power, so rich,” he said. “And we can take care of people. We can help other countries frankly. But the numbers we’re making, nobody thought it was possible. Now they’re all saying Trump was right.”
