“Let Jimmy Kimmel rot in his bad Ratings,” US president Donald Trump once proclaimed on social media, as the ABC host’s late-night show career suffered a temporary setback. In what the media personality may now see as poetic plot twist, a new poll has found that the POTUS is actually less popular than the talk show host.

A survey conducted by YouGov asked over 1,000 respondents whom they liked more between the two men. The result? Kimmel ended up leading Trump by 16 points.

Jimmy Kimmel more popular than Trump: New poll

“According to a new poll from YouGov, which is a serious polling site, or they were before this, I am more popular than the president of the United States,” Kimmel announced during his latest broadcast, prompting a thunderous applause. “You remember, the guy who keeps saying I have no ratings? Well, that makes two of us.”

Aside from Jimmy’s cheeky remarks during the now-resumed Jimmy Kimmel Live episode, the poll showed that about 44% of people had a favourable opinion of him, while 41% did not. On the flip side, 15% remained undecided on the issue, bringing the comedian’s net favourability to +3.

Donald Trump, on the other hand, was accorded with 41% favourable views, as opposed to 54% of people betting on the negative side. 5% remained undecided, prompting a -13 net favourability.

The poll in question was conducted after during the aftermath of ABC’s temporary suspension of Kimmel’s show in light of what it said were “ill-timed and thus insensitive” remarks addressing right-wing activist Charlie Kirk‘s death.

How Trump can improve approval ratings, according to Jimmy

Reacting to the poll numbers, Kimmel said, “It’s nice, but it feels like, considering the fact that I’m not a convicted felon friend of Jeffrey Epstein and I’ve never paid off a porn star, sent a team of mass goons into a park to pull an old lady away from her grandchildren.” He quipped that given the circumstances, his rating should “be higher maybe.”

He went on to joke that he didn’t like upsetting Trump. However, he believed that ship may have already sailed considering a White House statement was put out recently. Spokesperson Anna Kelly said, “Over 77 million Americans showed up on Election Day to cast their ballots for President Donald J Trump, who is delivering on his overwhelming mandate to put America First. Jimmy Kimmel prays every night to garner a fraction of that support to keep his show on air after ratings dropped 64% last week. Sad!”

Kimmel poked even more fun at the situation, adding, “You know, what else is said? President of the United States has a lower approval rating than Diddy and diarrhea.” He then suggested that if the MAGA leader was looking to improve his approval ratings, he said, “I have an idea: Release the Epstein Files.”

Jimmy didn’t say something off the top of his head, as here, too, he attributed the claim to a PBS News report titled, “Most Americans want the Epstein files released, poll finds.” He shared that 77% of American want the so-called files to be unveiled, noting “but 100% of our American president does not want them released.”
