Jon Stewart’s recent episode of ‘The Daily Show’ slammed Trump with a ‘praise song.’
In the episode, Stewart and his team wore black coats, white shirts, and red ties, a look that mirrored Trump’s signature style
The episode was aired after ABC’s decision to indefinitely suspend Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show, ‘Jimmy Kimmel live!’ over his remarks about Charlie Kirk’s death.
What was the ‘praise song’ about?
In the song, Stewart and his team sarcastically commented on everything from free speech to his frequent, unfounded claims that he deserves a Nobel Prize.
“Is Donald Trump stifling free speech?” Stewart asked, to which his team responded, “Of course not, Jon. Americans are free to express any opinion we want. To suggest otherwise is laughable. America is a nation of diverse perspectives, and we are not afraid to be different.”
The song continued with lyrics like, “We love you, Donald, you did so good, you got all your poopie in your potty,” and “Oh Donald, we pledge to our world from the hottest country in the world. You are a leader with no fake news.”
It further escalated with lines like, “You ended 8-10 wars, even though some countries don’t really exist,” and “You deserve all the prizes, all Nobel prizes. You have massive peanuts, much bigger than normal.”
The satirical anthem wrapped up with a final chorus of, “Oh Donald, we love you…”
Jon Stewart hosted a rare mid-week episode
Jon Stewart hosted a rare mid-week episode of The Daily Show on Thursday, just one day after ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel’s show “indefinitely” due to comments Kimmel made about the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.
He introduced himself as a “patriotically obedient host,” delivered a satirical monologue about free speech, calling his show “fun, hilarious, and administration-compliant.”
Stewart humorously referred to Trump as “father” and “dear leader” while joking about the president’s recent trip to the UK.
“If you’ve been feeling off these past couple of days, it’s probably because our great father has not been home. He’s been in England, sharing his legendary warmth and radiance,” Stewart quipped.
