New York Shooting Live Updates: Law enforcement authorities in the US identified Shane Devon Tamura (27) as the suspected gunman, who opened fire at a 634-ft skyscraper at 345 Park Avenue on Monday. Officials have since released a photo of the alleged shooter seen calmly strolling into the New York building. At least four people died, including an NYPD officer, according to authorities. The death toll later rose to six, including the suspected shooter as well.

NYC briefing: Mayor Eric Adams and officials speak out

The New York Police Department commenced its news conference, addressing the details related to the deadly rampage in Midtown Manhattan. Ultimately, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced during the briefing that five people were fatally shot Monday night. “Five innocent people shot tonight, we lost four souls to another senseless act of gun violence,” he said during the news conference.

Mayor Adams also divulged that the suspected shooter died from an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.” The alleged gunman was carrying an M4 assault rifle, according to New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch. Tamura was even seen holding the massive weapon as he stormed the Manhattan building that houses Blackstone, NFL, Rudin Management, and KPMG headquarters.

Tisch further disclosed that the NYC shooting suspect shot someone on the 33rd floor of the Park Avenue building before going “down a hallway” and shooting himself in the chest.

NYC shooter’s mental health history revealed

Although an official motive spurring the alleged gunman to go on a deadly rampage has yet to be determines, police announced that 27-year-old Shane D Tamura “has a documented mental healthy history.” On top of that, Commissioner Tisch said that the suspect hailing from Las Vegas travelled cross-country before reaching New York City, where he opened fire inside the Manhattan skyscraper.

Officials had previously disclosed that a vehicle with Nevada plates registered to Tamura was found at the scene. Tisch went on to add that it travelled through Colorado on July 26. The deranged suspect travelled through Nebraska and Iowa on July 27 before being spotted in Columbia, New Jersey.
