Democratic Socialist and New York State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani declared victory Tuesday night in the city’s Democratic mayoral primary, defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo. This has sent shockwaves for republicans. Cuomo conceded shortly after surprising early returns showed Mamdani dominating in key districts across New York City, marking a historic moment for the city’s progressive movement.
Prominent conservative figures quickly lashed out following Mamdani’s apparent win. Far-right commentator and Trump ally Laura Loomer took to X with a string of posts, warning that “another 9/11 in NYC” could occur under Mamdani’s leadership.
“New Yorkers forgot all about the victims of 9/11 killed by Muslims. Now a Muslim Communist will be the mayor of New York City. Get out while you can,” Loomer wrote. The conspiracy theorist, who has a history of anti-Muslim rhetoric and was previously banned from the platform, went on to claim Mamdani is “literally supported by terrorists.”
There will be another 9/11 in NYC and @ZohranKMamdani will be to blame.

GOP leaders join chorus of condemnation
Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk also weighed in, linking Mamdani’s win to the memory of 9/11 and labeling him a “Muslim Socialist.” Meanwhile, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), widely seen as a potential 2026 gubernatorial candidate, called Mamdani a “radical, Defund-the-Police, Communist, raging Antisemite” and a “jihadist.”
Despite speculation that Governor Kathy Hochul was “panicking” over the results, the Democratic governor struck a conciliatory tone. “Looking forward to working with Zohran Mamdani to ensure a safe, affordable, and livable New York City,” she wrote on social media. Hochul had not endorsed any candidate during the primary. Political activist, Charlie Kirk tweeted, ““24 years ago a group of Muslims killed 2,753 people on 9/11. Now a Muslim Socialist is on pace to run New York City.”

Now a Muslim Socialist is on pace to run New York City
OutKick founder Clay Travis, speaking on Fox News, slammed Mamdani for suggesting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should be arrested if he visits New York City. Travis called the idea “a disaster,” criticising Mamdani’s stance amid an ongoing investigation by the International Criminal Court, which last year issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu over alleged war crimes in Palestine. Travis also took aim at Mamdani’s proposed reforms to the city’s policing system.

Throughout his campaign, Mamdani championed several progressive policies, including free citywide bus service, universal child care, and municipally run grocery stores to combat food deserts. His message resonated with voters eager for structural reform and an end to establishment politics. With the general election ahead, Mamdani’s win sets the stage for a fierce ideological battle over the future of America’s largest city.
‘Removed his citizenship and deported’
MAGA supporters swiftly reacted to Mamdani’s victory. A user said, “Remove his citizenship and deport.” Another noted, “Again, why is anyone allowed to run for elected office unless you are native born?.” “Yes…enough of him!!!,” claimed another. “He is the most dangerous guy,” called a netizen. “This is going to be the best wakeup call for sin city NY. It’s going to be amazing,” said another user. “I thought only natural born citizens were allowed to become an American politician. Putting America first, NOT foreign agendas…,” added another.
