An Indian family of four reportedly died in a horrific car crash in Dallas, United States. With origins tracing back to Hyderabad, Sri Venkat, his wife Tejaswini and their two children are believed to have been struck by the heart-rending tragedy amid their US vacation.
The family is said to have been on their way back to Dallas after visiting their relatives in Atlanta over the Fourth of July weekend when their car collided with a mini-truck. The other vehicle was reportedly driving on the wrong side of the road, which resulted in a head-on collision in Green County.
Indian family was burnt alive: US car crash
Upon the fatal impact, the Indian family’s car instantly caught fire, while all four passengers were trapped inside. Officials eventually revealed that given the severe circumstances, victims were charred to death on the spot, making it even more difficult to identify them at the time.
With only bone fragments left behind, the remains were sent for forensic analysis so that the victims’ identities could be confirmed before releasing the bodies to the affected family.
Local authorities and US federal officials have joined forces with the Indian Consulate for the eventual repatriation of the remains to other surviving relatives and family.
Reports also suggest that the family of four was currently living in Sutton Fields, a community in Aubrey, near Dallas.
As per a Times of India report, non-profit TEAM Aid is in touch with the victims’ loved ones, offering them support in the repatriation process. According to their official website, “Team Aid is here to help people living abroad during chaotic times to help individuals that experience unexpected tragedies, especially tragedies that they are unprepared to resolve on their own. We can even organise to send a dead body home from the USA.”
This is an ongoing investigation. More details are awaited.
