An earthquake struck California in the early hours of Monday — with tremors felt across the Bay Area. The US Geological Survey put the epicenter close to Berkeley with a shallow depth of 5 miles. It was felt by people across the region with many taking to social media in alarm as their houses ‘shook’ and phones blared with the USGS shake alert.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries or significant damage.
