It’s been over a week since the Wall Street Journal outed a report insisting on Jeffrey Epstein’s A-list connections, including Donald Trump. As per the coverage earlier this month, the Republican US president’s name appeared among several other contributors for a birthday book celebrating the convicted financier’s 50th birthday compiled by his ex-girlfriend and longtime disgraced associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. Resurfaced claims and reporting on the issue doubled down on another one of American presidents penning a warm message to the sex offender that year.
Bill Clinton-Epstein links resurface
On Thursday, Bill Clinton, who has repeatedly been linked to Epstein in publicly released reports and documents, was again dragged back into the conversation. Much like Trump, Clinton has often attempted to distance himself from the late billionaire’s “terrible crimes,” but the Democrat shot back into headlines as WSJ pushed that Clinton was one of Epstein’s well-wishing acquaintances who wrote in his “distinctive scrawl” at the time.
“It’s reassuring isn’t it, to have lasted as long, across all the years of learning and knowing, adventures and [illegible word],” he wrote in the 2003 Epstein birthday book. “and also to have your childlike curiosity, the drive to make a difference and the solace of friends.”
The news comes around the same time as the New York Times reminded the Internet that Trump also participated in the birthday messages’ contribution even though he has previously denied signing a bawdy drawing and a related explicit message.
CNN has since quoted a person close to Bill Clinton, saying that it has been 20 years since the ex-president last contacted Epstein, which also happened before “any of his crimes came to light.” Instead of refuting any ties to the financier, the source added, “President Clinton has never been accused of any wrongdoing. Furthermore, when asked about the release of documents last year by the court, we did not, and do not, object to the unsealing.”
In late 2024, Clinton appeared to admit his past connections with Epstein, as per excerpts of his memoir “CITIZEN.” He expressed regret over their old ties, saying, “The bottom line is, even though it allowed me to visit the work of my foundation, travelling on Epstein’s plane was not worth the years of questioning afterward. I wish I had never met him.”
Epstein associates who sent him birthday messages
In addition to Trump and Clinton possibly penning messages to Epstein, other acquaintances of the sex offenders who are believed to be on the contributor list of the leather-bound book include Epstein associates like then-owner of Victoria’s Secret Leslie H Wexner, the late Alan C Greenberg (who was behind the Wall Street firm Bear Stearns and physicist Murray Gell-Mann, who has also passed away since.
Wall Street billionaire Leon Black, fashion designer Vera Wang and media owner Mort Zuckerman were some other ‘friends’ who ended up in the letters compilation.
Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, also penned a handwritten letter for the disgraced man, as included in the so-called birthday book. In a recent development, a senior Justice Department official met with her amid mounting pressure to release the remaining files tied to the late sex offender’s network.
Epstein client list as revealed in DOJ files and other reports so far
Although the recent joint memo by the Justice Department and FBI insisted that there never was an Epstein ‘client list’ to begin with, Attorney General Pamela Bondi released the ‘First Phase’ of declassified ‘Epstein Files’ in late February.
