US President Donald Trump has once again said that he helped bring peace between two nations – this time between Cambodia and Thailand. He said his administration used trade talks as leverage to bring both countries to the table and managed to settle the conflict “within less than a day.”
In an interview, Trump spoke about the historical tensions between the two nations.
“You know, they’ve had many conflicts and wars over the years. When I spoke to them, they said, 500 years. They said, That’s a lot. But now it was raging, and raging hard. People were being killed at the border a lot. And I said to Thailand — we’re doing a trading deal, and I’m not going to do a deal if you’re going to be killing each other. And I spoke to Cambodia—said essentially the same thing.”

‘Back and forth,’ talks claimed to end conflict in a day
Trump described how the discussions played out quickly and effectively.
“But somebody had to implement what I did. And we started a series of discussions—back and forth, back and forth. And within less than a day, we have it settled,” he stated, adding, “I guess now, based on what you’re saying, they’ve just said we’re going to have peace. That’s great. Millions of people are going to be saved.”
Trump declares himself the ‘President of peace’
While speaking about his role in ending the reported conflict, Trump said he had directly spoken to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thailand’s Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and called himself the ‘President of peace’. He claimed he warned both leaders that no trade deals would happen if fighting continued.
“Just spoke to the Acting Prime Minister of Thailand and the Prime Minister of Cambodia. I am pleased to announce that, after the involvement of President Donald J. Trump, both Countries have reached a CEASEFIRE and PEACE. Congratulations to all! By ending this War, we have saved thousands of lives,” Trump wrote on Truth Social from Scotland.
‘I’ve now ended many wars,’ says Trump
Trump also said he has instructed his trade team to resume talks with both countries now that peace has been declared.
“I have instructed my Trade Team to restart negotiations on Trade. I have now ended many Wars in just six months. I am proud to be the President of PEACE!” he added.
