The Sydney horrific attack that killed 6 people including a 9-month-old baby on Saturday came to an end after a police officer shot him dead at one of the city’s busiest shopping malls. The police officer was identified as Inspector Amy Scott.

According to reports, Inspector Scott was in the mall when the attack was taking place and confronted him with bravery. Inspector Scott swiftly intervened during a chaotic incident at the local shopping center, responding to alerts from bystanders regarding the assailant, later identified as Joel Cauchi by authorities.

New South Wales police reported that the situation escalated when the suspect allegedly made a threatening move towards Inspector Scott, prompting her to take decisive action.

In the heat of the moment, she discharged her weapon, incapacitating the assailant. Video footage captured her administering CPR to the injured individual, demonstrating her commitment to preserving life.

NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley praised Inspector Scott’s professionalism and recounted her conversation with the officer, emphasising her instinctive response honed through years of training. Catley also highlighted Inspector Scott’s humility, as she acknowledged the support of bystanders in the successful resolution of the situation.

In the ongoing investigation, NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb stated that Inspector Scott’s firsthand account would be crucial. Despite the risks inherent in law enforcement, Inspector Scott’s bravery and dedication underscore the sacrifices made by police officers to ensure public safety.
