Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on an official working visit to the United States from February 12-13, announced Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Friday. During his visit, Modi is scheduled to hold discussions with US President Donald Trump in Washington.

“PM Modi will pay an official working visit to the US on February 12 and 13. This will be the first visit of PM Modi to the US after the inauguration of second presidential term of President Donald Trump. The PM would be among the first few world leaders to visit the US following the inauguration of President Trump,” Misri said at a special briefing of the ministry of external affairs (MEA).

The announcement follows a recent statement from a White House official, confirming that President Trump had invited Modi for talks next week. Trump had previously hinted at the visit, telling reporters last month that he had spoken to Modi and looked forward to hosting him in Washington.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The upcoming visit is expected to reinforce US-India relations, with key discussions likely to focus on trade, defense, and strategic cooperation. Both leaders have maintained close ties over the years, and this meeting is expected to set the course for future collaborations between the two nations.

Further details on the agenda and key engagements during Modi’s visit are expected to be released in the coming days.
