Director General of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, came under scrutiny after a viral video showed him winking at a female journalist during a press conference.
In the video, the journalist, identified as Absa Komal, was seen pressing Chaudhry about his allegations against ex-Pakistan PM Imran Khan on his allegations against jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, that he is a “national security threat,” “anti-state,” and acting “at the hands of Delhi”.
“How is it different from the past, or should we expect any development in the future?” she asked.
Responding to her question, Chaudhry called Khan a “zehni mareez” (mental patient), after which he smiled and winked at her.

Who is General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry?
Chaudhry is a three‑star officer in the Pakistan Army who is serving as the 22nd Director General of Inter‑Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), the media and public‑relations wing of the Pakistani Armed Forces, according to Geo News.
Chaudhry came into limelight after his explosive anti-India remarks in the backdrop of Operation Sindoor in May. He is the son of Sultan Bashiruddin Mahmood, a UN-designated terrorist and aide of Osama Bin Laden.
Why did Chaudhry call Imran Khan ‘mentally ill’?
Chaudhry’s tirade was in response to Khan labelling Army Chief Asim Munir a “mentally unstable person” and blaming him for the “complete collapse of the Constitution and rule of law in Pakistan” in his social media posts.
Khan is being kept in solitary confinement in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. Reports claimed that he has not been allowed to meet his family or lawyers for the past nine days amid persistent rumours over his ill heath.
