Israel-Hamas War: Lebanon’s Hezbollah group carried out an attack on Sunday that resulted in seven Israeli troops and 10 other people being wounded, according to Israel’s military and rescue services. The clashes mark a significant incident involving civilians along the Lebanon-Israel border, amid escalating tensions between the Iran-backed Hezbollah and the Israeli military.
The assault follows earlier incidents, including an Israeli airstrike in south Lebanon on November 5 that resulted in casualties. The Israeli military expressed concern about the seriousness of the Hezbollah attack and emphasized its preparedness in the north.
Soldiers injured
The clash involved mortar shell launches in the Manara area, with seven IDF soldiers lightly injured, and additional casualties reported from rocket blasts and shrapnel.
Hamas claims responsibility
The Israeli military identified 15 launches from Lebanon, intercepting four, while the rest fell into open areas. Hamas’ military wing claimed responsibility for shelling northern Haifa and Israeli border towns from southern Lebanon.
Antitank missiles
Hezbollah fired antitank missiles at an Israeli community, causing injuries to utility workers. Israel responded with artillery fire, striking several southern Lebanese towns. The Israeli military shared an aerial video showing strikes on Hezbollah militant infrastructure.
Hezbollah claimed it targeted an Israeli military logistical force near the Dovev barracks. Clashes continued with further attacks on Israeli military gatherings and barracks in border areas. The United Nations peacekeeping force in south Lebanon, UNIFIL, reported one of its peacekeepers being wounded by gunfire near the Lebanese town of al-Qawza, with an ongoing investigation into the incident.
Gaza hospital crisis
Health officials and trapped individuals in Gaza’s main hospital refute Israeli claims of evacuation assistance, citing ongoing fighting and deteriorating conditions.
