The Canadian authorities arrested a fourth Indian national on Saturday, May 11, for his involvement in the death of separatist Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, as per an official release.  The official release said that he was already under the custody of the Peel Regional Police for unrelated firearms charges.

Amardeep Singh, a 22-year-old Canadian citizen who lives in the areas of Brampton, Surrey and Abbotsford, is accused of first-degree murder and murderous conspiracy.

Singh was arrested according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), for his involvement in Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s murder. “This arrest shows the nature of our ongoing investigation to hold responsible those that played a role in the homicide of Hardeep Singh Nijjar,” said Superintendent Mandeep Mooker, the Officer in Charge of IHIT.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s murder case

On June 18, 2023, Nijjar, 45, was killed outside the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia. Three Indian nationals, Karan Brar (22), Kamalpreet Singh (22) and Karanpreet Singh (28), were taken into custody by IHIT investigators on May 3rd in connection with the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder have been brought against the three Indian nationals who reside in Edmonton.
