US President Donald Trump launched a fiery defence of Attorney General Pam Bondi on Saturday following sharp criticism from his conservative base over the Justice Department’s recently released memo on Jeffrey Epstein. Writing on Truth Social, Trump praised Bondi’s performance and lashed out at her detractors, insisting she was being unfairly targeted.
“What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals’? They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!” Trump wrote. “We’re on one team — MAGA — and I don’t like what’s happening. We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and selfish people are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies — Jeffrey Epstein.”
MAGA fallout?
The backlash follows the DOJ’s memo stating there was no evidence Epstein maintained a “client list” or was murdered, reigniting fury among some MAGA supporters. Prominent right-wing figures, including Laura Loomer, Steve Bannon, and Tucker Carlson, slammed the release, with Carlson accusing Bondi of “covering up very serious crimes.”
Bannon used his “War Room” podcast to question the DOJ’s transparency and suggested the investigation was mismanaged. Others in Trump’s orbit, including a senior adviser, described the timing of the memo’s release as a “political nightmare” and questioned why it wasn’t delayed until after the 2026 midterms.
Trump sticks to Bondi
Despite the blowback, Trump is reportedly sticking by Bondi, at least for now. Sources close to the former president said members of his inner circle have privately reached out to Bondi’s critics, urging them to dial back their attacks. However, allies also warned that Trump’s support could shift quickly if public pressure continues.

Meanwhile, Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino is said to be considering resignation amid tensions between the FBI and DOJ over the case’s handling, according to CNN.
Trump dismisses Epstein focus, blames political enemies
Trump, visibly irritated by continued interest in the Epstein case, reiterated his frustration in his Saturday Truth Social post: “For years, it’s Epstein, over and over again.” He accused Democrats and intelligence officials including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, James Comey, and John Brennan of creating the “Epstein Files” to damage him.
He also noted that Epstein’s death and indictment occurred during his own first term and under former Attorney General Bill Barr, who confirmed the death was a suicide.
Trump urged FBI Director Kash Patel to shift focus to his preferred priorities, including “Voter Fraud, Political Corruption… and the Rigged and Stolen Election of 2020,” and ended with: “LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT!”
