Twin blasts outside an event near the tomb of Qasim Soleimani, the General of the Revolutionary Guard Corps, ended up killing nearly a hundred people, and about 170 injured in the Iranian city of Kerman. The deadly blasts took place at the time of a procession on the occasion of the fourth death anniversary of the General, who was killed by a U.S. drone strike near the airport of Baghdad, Iraq, in 2020.

Iran blames US and Israel for blasts

The blast has shell-shocked the entire Middle Eastern region, which is raging under the fire of the Israel-Hamas conflict. No one has taken responsibility for the blasts so far. However, the Iranian government has blamed the United States and Israel for the twin explosions. Mohammad Jamshidi, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Political Affairs to the President of Iran posted on X (formerly Twitter), älleging US and Zionists for the attack.

He posted, “Washington says USA and Israel had no role in terrorist attack in Kerman, Iran. Really? A fox smells its lair first.  Make no mistake. The responsibility for this crime lies with the US and Zionist regimes and terrorism is just a tool.”

“The United States was not involved in any way, and any suggestion to the contrary is ridiculous,” US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in response to the allegations from the Iran government. “We have no reason to believe that Israel was behind it,” he added.

India’s statement on Iran blasts

The world has united to condemn this incident of terror. Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Randhir Jaiswal shared his support to Iran on X. His tweet quoted, ”We are shocked and saddened by the terrible bombings in the Kerman City of Iran. At this difficult time, we express our solidarity with the government and the people of Iran. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and with the wounded.

Similarly, Russian Presiden Vladimir Putin wrote a letter to Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, calling the incident cruelty and cynicism. The European Union condemned

On the sidelines of the Israel-Hamas war, Iran has openly supported and backed Hamas fighters through its backed Shia militant groups Hezbollah and Houthis.
