CNN host Dana Bash is being called out for suggesting that the Toronto plane crash was the fault of President Trump and DOGE. Speaking during one of the news bulletins, Dana said, “This is happening against the backdrop of massive cuts across the federal government, including at the FAA.” She further said, “Hundreds of FAA employees have been laid off as part of Elon Musk going through all the federal agencies.”
Dana then went on to show the data of some of the latest cuts that Trump has done after taking over as the US President. The data showed cuts in:
- Hundreds of FAA employees
- Roughly 10% of CDC workforce
- 3,400 employees at US Forest Service
- 2,200 staffers at the Interior Department
- 2,000 workers at the Department of Energy
- 1,000 employees at the VA
Responding to this, Nia-Malika Henderson, Politics and Policy Columnist at Bloomberg, said, “If you look at how Trump’s supporters are reacting, then this is something they are not really affected by.” She further added that so far these cuts, because they are directed at federal workers, who have been “demonised as lazy”, a lot of Americans say, “too bad, so sad.”
X users call out CNN host Dana Bash
Many X users took to their accounts and called out CNN for coming to this conclusion regarding the Toronto plane crash. A user wrote, “CNN logic: A plane crashes in Toronto, Canada… must be President Trump’s fault. Maybe they should check if he also controls Canadian air traffic, the weather, and gravity while they’re at it.”
Another user sarcastically wrote, “Plane crashes didn’t exist until Trump took office apparently.” One of the users wrote America knows what CNN is doing. “America knows what @DanaBashCNN is doing. We’ve been down this road many times before @CNN,” a user with the handle @maryellenonebay wrote.
