As Jeff Bezos tied the knot with Lauren Sanchez, the city of Venice is abuzz with celebrities. With the Kardashians in town, Indian-American CEO Mona Patel has also grabbed attention as one of the standout guests. The entrepreneur and philanthropist joined the star couple in celebrating their ‘legendary love.’
Who is Mona Patel?
Originally from Vadodara, Gujarat, Patel moved to the United States at the age of 22 to pursue her academics at Rutgers University. Before settling down in Dallas, she returned to India in 2003 to complete her undergraduate degree from Gujarat University.
The serial entrepreneur has founded eight companies across sectors like healthcare, technology and real estate. They are collectively valued at $100 million.
With an MBA from both MIT and Harvard Business School, she blended her interest in fashion and philanthropy by founding a non-profit organisation. “Couture for Cause” auctions luxury couture pieces, sometimes from her own collection. The money raises funds for other charitable endeavours.

However, she was not the only Indian origin personality. Natasha Poonawalla, a close friend of Sanchez, she made headlines with her iconic 3-D ensemble. A Poonawalla signature, it fit perfectly with the extravagance of the Venice wedding.
Mona’s iconic looks are a moment in history as her Iris van Herpen gown for the 2024 Met Gala features moving butterflies. Her advocacy for innovations shone bright this May with Alexander McQueen’s Black Dandy look for her.
An entrepreneur and philanthropist, Mona Patel is no less than a fashion icon as well.
