Vinay Hiremath, the Indian-origin co-founder of Loom, made headlines after selling his startup to Atlassian for nearly $1 billion in 2023. Despite walking away with an estimated $50 to $70 million, the 33-year-old has no income and is currently looking for internships.
During an appearance on the Moneywise podcast, Hiremath shared his journey from a “broke stoner” to a multimillionaire and his decision to forgo a $60 million retention bonus. He confirmed earning between $30 to $100 million from Loom’s sale but declined to disclose the exact amount.
“I left 60 on the table. I have no income. Right now, I’m looking for internships,” Hiremath said.
The co-founder of Loom sold his biz for ~$1B, made $50-70M personally, then walked away from an extra $60M

Since selling his company, Hiremath has spent his time studying physics for 5-8 hours a day and engaging in online discussions with young enthusiasts. He is now hoping to secure an internship at a robotics company as a mechanical engineer.
“I’ve been doing a bunch of physics. Hopefully, I’ll be interviewing at a few startups—maybe robotics companies—to intern as a mechanical engineer,” he revealed.
Despite his financial success, Hiremath is in no rush to return to full-time work and remains focused on learning and exploring new fields.
