YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, recently found himself at the centre of a controversy following a joke made during comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent. The YouTuber’s joke drew backlash from authorities, with several police forces getting involved, and even the editor of the show being summoned.
Gaurav Taneja’s support for Ranveer
Amid the growing controversy, fellow YouTuber Gaurav Taneja, also known as Flying Beast, took to Instagram to voice his opinion. Taneja expressed his concern over the situation escalating beyond control and said that it was unfair for Ranveer to bear the brunt alone. He criticised the authorities for targeting Ranveer, questioning why the past panellists and everyone associated with the show were being summoned for questioning.
Taneja also highlighted the absurdity of the situation, pointing out that if authorities were truly concerned about offensive language, they should also target Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google (which owns YouTube). He suggested that the algorithm behind YouTube should be held accountable, as it allows content with explicit language to be published.
“If the authorities were so worried about filthy language, they should have summoned Sundar Pichai also. Pichai is the CEO of Google, which owns YouTube. I am saying that go and find Sundar Pichai now. When you are putting up videos on YouTube which have filthy language, doesn’t the algorithm get to know? Why aren’t you getting Sundar Pichai? Because you can’t. They can only get the guy who is weak. They can harass him. Insane!” he said
Ranveer Allahbadia eventually issued an apology, and YouTube removed the episode in question.
