India versus Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup super 4s cricket match was all about thrill, though the outcome would not have changed anything about the final or the prospect of any time, the game was what every cricket fan looks for. An enthralling 20-20 match got tied, leading the teams to a super over and finally handing India a victory. While there were many highlights, it was Sanju Samson who has taken the limelight and the internet is hailing him for his epic wicket-keeping and batting skills.

Samson has now become India’s leading T20I wicketkeeper in terms of sixes. He has surpassed MS Dhoni’s record by hitting 55 sixes in 48 innings. Dhoni held this record after hitting 52 sixes in 85 innings, a report said. 

In the match against Sri Lanka, Samson scored 39 runs from 23 balls and hammered one four and three sixes, scoring 22 runs through boundaries only.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), of which Samson is a part during the IPL tournament, took to X and shared a video of Sanju hitting massive six. The 34-second video also captured the reaction from the Sri Lankan team and staff as Sanju shot the ball into the air. 

“He can do any role! “Sanju Mohanlal Samson”,” CSK captioned the post.

Samson did not get a chance to bat in India’s Asia Cup Super 4s match against Bangladesh. However in the last Group A match played against Oman at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, he scored 56 runs.

Cricket fans showered their praise and love for the wicket-keeper-batter on social media sharing the video of his innings. “Best Indian WK, I have witnessed after MS, W.Saha, Sanju Mohanlal Samson,” a user said while sharing a 59-second video showcasing Samson’s wicket-keeping skills.

“Amazed to see that even ishan kishan had played 32 innings in T20is and sanju totally 41 Btw sanju is 70 runs short from his 1000 runs in t20is and that too in 42 innings that would be the fastest 1000 runs getting sharing with Phil salt having who took 42 innings to make 1000,” said another.

Another user said, “From nobody will dare to relate sir Sanju Samson with Hasaranga , Sukoon”, highlighting Sanju’s sixer on Wanindu Hasaranga’s delivery.

As for the Asia Cup, India and Pakistan will have a faceoff third time in the tournament as they make their last attempt to win the trophy in the finals on Sunday (Sept 28).
