Ranveer Allahbadia, who was awarded ‘Disruptor of the Year’ award in 2024, has quite literally disrupted the internet over the past 24 hours. His recent remarks, specifically the question to a contestant on Samay Raina’s ‘India’s got Latent’ show, has sparked widespread outrage amongst the people inviting reactions from all over the internet and even politicians like Devendra fadanavis.
Ranveer did an issue an apology later on his social media account saying that comedy is not his forte. “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it was not even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry,” the 31-year-old Youtuber and podcaster said. However, what is now emerging on social media presents a completely different picture.
Ranveer’s question which has been branded as ‘vulgar’ by the internet peeps, actually seems to be an exact copy of the question that was raised on another foreign show – ‘Truth and Drink’. Have a look at it yourself:
The video has quickly gone viral with people claiming that Ranveer’s question is an outright copy and the show was hence carefully scripted as a deliberate attempt to go viral. One user wrote, “As per my discretion it goes against the law. Since in Common Law Incest of such order is punishable.” Another raised more questions asking, “Which country’s show is this ? Doesn’t this go against the law of that country ? I’m seriously asking because if that country’s law allows it probably that’s the reason they were emboldened thinking it’s okay with the law.”
What happened on Samay Raina’s ‘India’s Got Latent’ show?
Ranveer was a judge on the latest episode of India’s Got Latent, along with show runner Samay Raina, and social media influencers Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija (a.k.a The Rebel Kid). During the episode, he asked one of the contestants a question that sparked a lot of criticism online. “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever,” Allahbadia asked, which even shocked Samay Raina at the time. The remark quickly went viral, with many people criticising Allahbadia for his inappropriate comment.
Beerbiceps faces severe backlash
Allahabadia’s comments didn’t go down well with the audience. Several police complaints were filed against him, and politicians from different parties condemned the podcaster, who has 4.5 million followers on Instagram and 10.5 million YouTube subscribers.
