Co-founder and chairman of the travel agency portal, Nishant Pitti of EaseMyTrip has doubled down on his claims of flagging a potential risk to national security. Taking to social media, he shared screenshots of a ticket booking portal offering discounts to Indian Armed Forces officials in exchange of their defence ID as proof. Sharing this he wrote “Our enemies know where our soldiers are flying.”
Claiming that this is a “loophole” by the company with “significant Chinese ownership”, Pitti also posted a screengrab of Nasdaq filing. It listed the significant investors in MakeMyTrip, a direct competitor website of EaseMyTrip, like Trip.com Group Limited, Vangaurd Group Inc. and BlackRock Inc. as major stakeholders.

While MakeMyTrip has not responded to any claims made by Pitti, netizens sparked uproar in the comment section below his post. While some accused him of low stride of competitiveness, others questioned why the risk of national security was not flagged earlier.
In a following post made by him earlier today, May 16, he shared, “MakeMyTrip may dismiss this as a “motivated accusation” but when national security is at stake, silence is not an option.” He further broke down the reasons of his claims by revealing that “5 out of 10 directors have direct ties to China”. Proving further Chinese cosmetic control, he shared the company’s website displaying key posts held by Chinese nationals.

As per ANI reports, “We were the first ones to take out a travel advisory against Turkey and Azerbaijan” said Prashant Pitti, following the recent India-Turkey degrading relations. It must be noted that, MakeMyTrip too has removed all promotions and non-essential travel to Turkey and Azerbaijan.
While the debate continues and Nishant Pitti stays adamant to his claims, users of social media still question the sudden revelations especially during an ongoing Indo-Pak conflict. “Why are all these articles and findings coming in wake of India-Pakistan conflict? Didn’t you know all this earlier?” wrote a user on his recent post. In an age where every citizen practically survives online, it must be noted the kind of personal information is shared on such portals. Be it a call for national security or personal safety, Pitti voiced his concerns.
