U.S. Vice President JD Vance, along with his wife Usha and their three children, visited the Taj Mahal during his recent four-day trip to India. After touring the iconic monument, Vance shared photos on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, which prompted a response from Elon Musk.

JD Vance visit to Taj Mahal

“Today I visited the Taj Mahal with Usha and the kids,” Vance wrote, posting three photos from the visit. “It’s a beautiful historic site, and I’m grateful for the warm welcome we received there!” Elon Musk replied to the post, calling the Taj Mahal “One of the most beautiful wonders of the world.”

In the visitors’ book, Vance described the monument as “amazing,” and a “testament to true love, human ingenuity, and a tribute to the great country of India.”

CM Welcomes JD Vance

The Vance family arrived in Agra on April 23, flying in from Jaipur. They were welcomed at the airport by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who greeted them with flowers. The CM also shared his welcome on X, stating, “A warm welcome to Hon’ble US Vice President Mr. JD Vance and his family to Uttar Pradesh, the sacred heartland of India, renowned for its timeless devotion, vibrant culture, and spiritual legacy.”

The family—sons Ewan and Vivek, and daughter Mirabel—traveled by car to the Taj Mahal from the airport. Extensive security was in place, with U.S. personnel having monitored the 12-km stretch in advance. The route was declared a zero-traffic zone during their movement.

The Vances spent about an hour at the Taj Mahal before heading back to the airport. Their visit to India also included a stop at Delhi’s Akshardham Temple earlier in the week.
