Eggoz founder, Abhishek Negi, took to LinkedIn to react to viral claims that the brand uses antibiotics or banned drugs in its eggs. Abhishek Negi said that he is taken aback by the “misinformation and fear-mongering” spread by the viral video, adding that “trust shaken by incomplete narratives is deeply disappointing”.
‘No antibiotics ever used’
“I am shocked and deeply disappointed by the misinformation and the fear it has created. Thousands of you have trusted Eggoz over the last six years because we didn’t just talk about better eggs – we built an entire system to deliver them. We were the first brand in India to introduce 11 safety checks, 100% herbal feed, and full batch-level transparency. That trust is hard-earned and sacred to us,” Negi wrote on LinkedIn.
In the next few lines, he cleared the air around the viral claim. “No antibiotics – banned or otherwise – are ever used on Eggoz farms. Ban means ban. There is no discussion, no exception, no jugaad. This is our life’s work. We will not allow shortcuts on product or integrity,” he added.
Negi said that the egg brand was found to “elevate the quality of eggs and nutrition in India” and that the values stand the same today as they were when he founded the company.
“Eggoz was founded with one mission: to elevate the quality of eggs and nutrition in India, and to organise a largely unbranded industry with science, safety, and transparency. Our farms are thoroughly audited and monitored. The values we stand for today are the same values we founded this company on – and we are not moving an inch,” he further said.
Negi also shared NABL-accredited lab reports, adding that the eggs “contain no banned materials, no pesticides, no heavy metals, and nothing harmful”.
“They reflect exactly what we stand for: herbal feed, strict quality norms, and the relentless dedication of our farmers and Eggozians,” he further added.
What has happened?
A viral video claimed to have tested Eggoz eggs and suggested that the lab reports contained alarming results. This, as expected, raised serious concerns about the safety and quality of the eggs that the brand sells.
“But there is one brand which I found out through you guys when you guys commented on the brand Eggoz, which is mostly a known brand in most states,” said Trustified, which describes itself as India’s first fully blind testing certification initiative, in a video on YouTube.
It added that when the company got the lab test report of the product, it was “shocking”. It went on to show various levels from the tests, stating that when the eggs were tested for two banned drugs used in the poultry industry, a metabolite called AOZ, linked to one of the drugs, was detected. According to Trustified, the drugs Nitrofuran and Nitroimidazoles are prohibited and have been associated with serious health risks, including cancer.
What did Eggoz say in response?
Eggoz, in response to the allegations, said that their “eggs are safe for consumption”.
“We take every care to maintain quality and safety across the entire value chain, including ensuring zero antibiotic usage,” the company added. It also initiated additional tests through an independent NABL-accredited laboratory to further reassure customers.
