Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: As the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to form a government in Delhi after 26 years, an old video of Arvind Kejriwal has resurfaced in which he claimed “Modiji can’t win Delhi.”
“If you try to put a stop to Kejriwal’s 550 Mohalla Clinics…if you try to shutdown our schools and then think that you will win in Delhi…Modiji, in this lifetime, you can’t win Delhi,” Kejriwal said in the video.
The video went viral on social media and many users said that Kejriwal’s arrogance has been crushed by Delhi voters.
“Modiji can’t win Delhi” with WAY too much confidence. Now, BJP’s leading and it’s clear—he’s not being defeated, it’s his arrogance that’s being crushed by Delhi voters,” one user said.
“He went to Varanasi to defeat Modi Ji, can’t win his own seat in glorified municipality. And this defeat shows that it is very hard to win after 10 years of anti incumbency and that makes BJP win in Gujarat, UP, Haryana more special,” another user said.
“Arvind Kejriwal is trailing. A party losing a state election is one thing, but the UNESCO-certified best CM in the world losing his own seat would be a whole new level of embarrassment—perhaps career-ending humiliation. Fortunately for him, humiliation isn’t something he experiences. He’s immune to it. He’ll just deny the loss and keep crying that the elections were rigged. If he loses, Bhagwant Mann should watch his chair,” another user said.
On Saturday, Kejriwal lost his re-election bid from the New Delhi seat to former two-time BJP MP Parvesh Verma. Verma, hailed as a ‘giant-slayer’ and potential future Chief Minister is expected to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“We accept the mandate of the people with great humility. I congratulate the BJP for this victory and I hope they will fulfil all the promises for which people have voted them. We have done a lot of work in the field of health, education, infrastructure in the last 10 years. We will not only play the role of a constructive opposition but will also remain among the people and continue to serve them,” Kejriwal said in a video.
ECI data revealed that after 14th round of counting votes, Singh defeated Kejriwal by a margin of 4089 votes. The BJP candidate won 30088 votes.
