Ekagrah Rohan Murty, just 17 months old, has made headlines as one of India’s youngest millionaires. The toddler, grandson of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, earned a staggering Rs 10.65 crore in dividends for the financial year ending March 2025, courtesy of his stake in the IT giant.
Born in November 2023 to Rohan Murthy and Aparna Krishnan, Ekagrah was gifted 15 lakh Infosys shares — amounting to a 0.04% stake in the company — by his grandfather when he was merely four months old. The shares, then valued at over Rs 240 crore, now place Ekagrah among the youngest high-earning shareholders in India.
On Thursday, Infosys announced a final dividend of Rs 22 per share. Ekagrah’s holding entitles him to Rs 3.3 crore from this payout alone, adding to the Rs 7.35 crore he received through interim dividends earlier this year.
Since the transfer of shares, Infosys has declared total dividend payouts of Rs 49 per share. Despite not yet being two years old, Ekagrah has already secured a position in India’s corporate earnings spotlight.
He is the third grandchild of Narayana Murthy and renowned author and philanthropist Sudha Murty. His cousins, Krishna and Anoushka, are the daughters of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty.
Other Murthy family members also stand to gain from Infosys’ latest dividend announcement. Akshata Murty, who holds 3.89 crore shares (1.04% stake), is expected to receive Rs 85.71 crore. Narayana Murthy will earn Rs 33.3 crore, and Sudha Murty Rs 76 crore.
Infosys has set May 30 as the record date for the dividend, which will be paid on June 30.
Founded in 1981 with just Rs 10,000 in capital, Infosys has grown into a global tech leader. Sudha Murty, who supported the company’s foundation with her savings, later led the Infosys Foundation for over 25 years. She continues her philanthropic efforts and was recently nominated to the Rajya Sabha for her contributions to society.
