Quora, an American social question-and-answer website, recently experimented with switching from Zoom to Google Meet but returned to Eric Yuan’s company within a week over audio quality issues. CEO Adam D’Angelo, while sharing his experience, noted that while Google Meet excels in many ways, its poor audio performance ultimately made it unusable. Soon, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai stepped in – like a hands-on customer support executive – and promised to fix the issue.
As the interaction between the two went viral on X, Elon Musk, who owns the platform and recently changed the name of his handle to “gorklon rust”, didn’t shy away from promoting his platform. But before we get to Musk’s reaction, let us take a look at the interaction between the two CEOs.
Quora CEO sides with Zoom
“At Quora, we recently tested switching from Zoom to Google Meet for a week,” the Quora CEO wrote on X.
He added, “Google Meet is better in many small ways, but worse in one big way: audio quality, particularly background noise cancellation and echoing. That kills it, so we are staying on Zoom!”
Pichai turns into a ‘customer care executive’
“Thanks for flagging,” said the Google CEO as he promised to fix the audio issue.
He added, “Hey Adam, will follow up offline as I haven’t experienced this… we will debug to understand the root cause and fix.”
Pichai also said that Google Meet works pretty well for him, as noted by an engineer in the comments section. “As Reed notes below, it works pretty well in my experience.”

Reed, who works for Waymo – a subsidiary of Google’s parent company – has said, “Really? We literally never have an issue with background noise. In fact, it’s remarkably good, can’t hear dogs or coughing or leaf blowers… surprising you had an issue.”
Now, let’s see what “gorklon rust” – oops, we mean Elon Musk – said
Yuchen Jin, co-founder and CTO of Hyperbolic, took a screenshot of the conversation between Pichai and D’Angelo and said, “You know Google is back and probably will win the AGI race when its CEO starts doing customer support on X.”
Reacting to his post, Elon Musk said, “The smartest & most influential people in the world interact on X!”
