While the now-viral Polish CEO Piotr Szczerek is still reeling from infamously making it social media trends, a similar incident from the sports world has made an irate baseball fan SNS’ latest target. The woman in question has since gotten the Internet up in arms, name-calling her as ‘Krazy Karen,’ ‘Baseball Karen,’ ‘Phillies Karen,’ or even ‘Cruella.’
On Friday (US time), a woman supporting the Philadelphia Phillies in the stands confronted a father-son duo after the elder one of the two caught a home run ball centre fielder Harrison Bader smashed high in their direction. Although the woman, who now social media sleuths say goes by the name Cheryl Richardson-Wagner, never actually caught the ball (as per the video), she still grabbed the father’s arm, while presumably arguing that the souvenir belonged to her.
‘Phillies Karen’ goes viral on X, prompting backlash & misinformation
The Phillies Karen’s argument apparently arose from the fact that the young fan’s father only secured the ball after shifting closer to her spot, which was seats away from he and his son were originally standing. As the behind-the-scenes footage of the incident went viral on social media, many took issue with how the other man ultimately handed the ball to the woman to avoid any further conflict with the unwarrantedly furious Phillies fan.
Considering that the woman broke up an emotional moment between the father-son duo, social media has hounding Cheryl Richardson-Wagners everywhere and anywhere. The contemporary trend of doxxing those the Internet chooses to hate has so far led many netizens to bark up the wrong tree by harassing other women who go by that name on SNS platforms.

School district debunks claims of Cheryl Richardson-Wagner being fired
Numerous X users claimed to have found the person of interest on Facebook, only to be proved wrong moments later. More recent viral claims about the alleged Cheryl Richardson-Wagner, aka the ‘Phillies Karen’ had social media buzzing about how she had reportedly been fired from her school job after visuals from the big game made it to the Elon Musk-led platform.
A New Jersey school district has since broken silence on the matter, refuting any such suggestions. Hammonton Public School District issued a statement, poking fun at the woman pictured in the viral footage. “Anyone who works for our school district, attended as a student or lives in our community would obviously have caught the ball bare-handed in the first place, avoiding this entire situation,” the district stated, as per Breaking Atlantic County, further amplified in a report bu the Independent.
Further shedding light on the alleged claims that she was worked at the district in New Jersey, the statement said she “is not, and has never been an employee of the Hammonton Public Schools.” The message dismissed the speculations, adding such reports were “incorrect.”

Is Cheryl Richardson-Wagner the Phillies’ Karen?
Social media sleuths are banking on the belief that the ‘Baseball Karen’ is a woman with this particular name. There have already been a few examples of netizens harassing Cheryl Wagners with pixie or short haircuts.
One such woman inaccurately accused of being the Phillies fan in the viral video has since firmly denied the allegations. Claiming to be a Red Sox fan, the woman affirmed that she was not a Phillies supporter. “OK everyone… I’m NOT the crazy Philly Mom (but I sure would love be as thin as she is and move as fast,” she wrote on Facebook.
Consequently, X users turned to another woman with the same name. Another Cheryl Richardson-Wagner appears to have caught people’s eye on LinkedIn. However, this particular woman is linked to social services at New Jersey’s BAYADA Home Health Care. Neither of these women has spoken out yet.
Official confirmation on the real Phillies Karen’s identity has yet to follow.
