An Indian techie shared how she managed to secure interviews at leading firms such as Uber, Meta, and Amazon through LinkedIn. While none of these interview calls turned into job offers, she revealed tips that other job seekers can use to turn a single job posting into a life-changing opportunity.
LinkedIn tips to get interviews at Uber, Meta, and Amazon
In an interview with Business Insider, Karishma Mandal said that she didn’t simply didn’t limit herself to applying to job listings on LinkedIn. Instead, she used the keyword combination “product manager + hiring” to refine her searches on the platform. She would then apply a 24-hour filter to the most recent posts.
She would also manually tweak the URL – as you expect from a techie – changing the time parameter from 86,400 seconds (24 hours) to 3,600 seconds (1 hour). This hack allowed her to view job-related posts made in just the past hour. Once she found a relevant listing, she would immediately message the recruiter or hiring manager to explain why she was a strong fit for the role, according to the report.
Mandal also used the same logic in LinkedIn’s job listing tab, applying filters for the newest openings. Her goal was to be among the first 20-30 applicants, giving her an edge as early submissions are often prioritised.
She revealed that she would also apply directly through the company’s career pages as well, after an HR professional once told her that applications submitted via the official portal were given higher priority.
“You have to be early, you have to be through the direct website, and you have to get a referral if you can,” Mandal revealed her strategy in an interview with Business Insider.

The tricks worked in her favour. She began receiving responses from recruiters and hiring managers at top companies and even landed an interview after a Meta employee referred her through Refer.me.
Although these interview opportunities didn’t convert into offers, she kept on applying at different companies. Last year, she reached out to a Salesforce recruiter on LinkedIn who had posted about an AI-focused product manager role. This time, her strategy clicked. After seven rounds of interviews, she secured the role with a 40% salary hike.
Not just this, she also relocated to San Francisco to be in the centre of the Bay Area.
”If you are trying to make a big career move in tech, I’d recommend living in San Francisco and seeing how you can leverage your network,” she said.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Mandal holds a diploma in Information Technology and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Mumbai’s Thadomal Shahani Engineering College, before later pursuing studies at Northwestern University.
